Steps we are taking or may have to take

In the first instance we will try to continue to operate as usual where possible, but with the precautions of asking all clients to wash their hands on entry to the Foodbank, not putting biscuits out on plates and pre-packing all fresh fruit, veg and bread into sealed bags so they are not handled.  Volunteers serving drinks will wear disposable gloves where possible.

  1. In the past two days we have seen a drop in donations and a panic surge in people coming to the Foodbank.  We are therefore rationing some items.
  2. Should the spread hit Bristol in a bigger way we will look at not holding café, but just receiving clients at the pick up points and handing them a pre-packed parcel.
  3. If churches are told to close, then that would mean most of our Foodbank outlets will have to close.  We will let you know if this is going to happen and if the following procedures will kick in at each Foodbank:

Bristol North West Foodbank – IF our outlets close, our Social Justice Hub, St. Andrew’s Church, Avonmouth Road, Avonmouth BS11 9EN will continue to remain open for the collection of emergency ration food boxes on weekday mornings, 10-1pm.  Agencies will be able to pick up boxes for delivery and we are making plans to be able to home deliver where possible to those self-isolating.

North Bristol Foodbank -  Ebenezer Church, BS7 0BA will be open for the collection of emergency ration food boxes on weekday mornings ONLY if we close other outlets

East Bristol Foodbank – Our worst case scenario is we will have emergency boxes available at our outlets at the normal times, that will be able to be picked up at the door if the outlets are closed.

We hope that we can continue to work together to reach the most vulnerable in our communities, with that in mind can you please make sure that you are still only referring those in a crisis who can’t afford to buy food, so that we can make sure our resources last for as long as possible.

We will be in touch again soon.

Warmest regards

Emma Murray – Bristol North West Foodbank Manager

Matt Dobson – North Bristol Foodbank - Manager

Andy Irwin – East Bristol Foodbank - Manager

Are you male? Aged 16-24? Risk-taking? Determined? Energetic?

Ignition is Frantic Assembly's free, national training programme for young men aged 16-24. The programme seeks out talent in unexpected places across the UK, from sports groups to youth centres, and is committed to helping young men find their individual and collective strength. Our aim is to bring together a dynamic group from across the UK with different backgrounds, skills and stories.

No experience is necessary and we're particularly looking for young men who haven't taken part in drama or dance before.

This year we have broadened the age-range, to include young men aged 16-24.

Taster and Trial Workshops are delivered with regional arts partners across the UK and 12 of the brightest and bravest young men are selected to form the Ignition Company. The company will come together in London to live and work together for 7 days to create an original performance with Frantic Assembly Directors.

Ignition also includes a year-round Re-Ignite programme which continues to train, mentor and sign post opportunities with Frantic Assembly throughout the UK.
