Primary School Lunches

Meals are prepared freshly every day in our school kitchen. The children choose and order their lunches at the start of the school day.

On the tables, the children can all choose from a bread basket and selection of salad to accompany their meals. Our lunchtime routines are planned to help the children take responsibility for their food choices and develop their social skills, of sharing and helping each other, as they eat.

We encourage children to develop healthy eating habits during school dinner times. The daily menu includes a ‘treat’ pudding option; where a child has not eaten much or any of their main meal, we will be encourage them to choose a healthier fruit or yogurt option for pudding. Hopefully everyone will enjoy their main course but what we don’t want to happen is a child to start the afternoon after only eating a pudding!

School Dinners - Applicable from Year 3 upwards

If your child is ill and you have ordered and paid for a school lunch for the day they are away from school, your scopay account will be credited automatically.

If your child is sent home from school due to illness before 9.30am and they were due to have a school dinner, this will be credited.  However, if your child is collected from school due to illness after this time, £2.20 will be deducted from your Scopay account as normal.  Any questions with regards to the school dinner payment system, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

From week beginning 25 April 2022

With effect from 1st September 2019 the school meal price for all primary children who are not eligible for free school meals will be £2.20 and this price will be guaranteed for 3 years.  All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal so please do take up this entitlement.  The new menus will be available on the school website over the summer.  A new payment and meal booking system will be introduced and details of how this will work will be sent out before term starts in September.  We are working with our current caterers and Taylor Shaw with regard to any dinner money held on parental accounts on the current system and we will let you know if this will be transferred or refunded.

In the meantime, if you have any queries with regard to the new meal service please contact the school office in the first instance.

Parents are regularly invited to come and share the primary lunch time experience with the children.
