In order to achieve the school's mission statement and vision, as well as driving continuous improvement, the Teaching and Learning Committee's main responsibilies are to:

• set and prioritise strategic learning objectives through the 5year strategic plan, 1yr school development plan, whole school objectives and individual performance objectives
• oversee rigorous processes of personalised target setting, monitoring progress and the provision of appropriate interventions where progress is less than expected
• monitor the impact of the curriculum on learning and encourage innovative practice
• oversee the quality of learning for vulnerable students including those with special educational needs at both ends of the spectrum
• scrutinise data and the reporting of standards, examination results, assessments and progress
• ensure effective self-evaluation as a way of embedding excellent and consistent teaching practice to improve the learning outcomes for all students
