Welcome from Chair of Governors

Welcome to Bradley Stoke Community School!  It seems like no time at all since we were welcoming our first students in 2005 and now we're awaiting the outcomes of their first GSCE results!

Providing continuity and choice for our older students has been an important area of focus for the governing body over the last couple of years and has culminated in the planning and construction of our new Post 16 building which, despite the snow delaying some building works, will be ready to welcome our new Year 12 students in September 2010.  Governors and staff have all been very busy overseeing the preparations both structurally and academically to ensure students from across the Concorde Partnership have access to its state of the art facilities and excellent teaching at AS and A level.

The governors' vision for Bradley Stoke Community School is clear that collaborative working is a fundamental part of the way we choose to operate, to ensure that students achieve their potential whilst promoting efficient use of our collective resources and specialist facilities.  This has never been more important than now, when all schools are facing uncertainty pending the outcomes of the new coalition government's spending review in October.  In addition, the government has set out its new national educational priorities and clearly, the governors of Bradley Stoke Community School need to maintain their strategic awareness by anticipating, debating and making informed decisions based on the associated challenges and opportunities whilst considering their local context.

We have a full governing body team, comprising of parents, staff, community and local authority representatives who give up many hours to fulfil three key roles which are to: provide strategic leadership, ensure accountability and act as a critical friend. Together with our inspirational leadership and dedicated staff teams, we are committed to giving students a place in which they can stretch themselves, be heard, feel supported and be safe.

Despite being the first secondary school in the country to be awarded a 'gold'  Engaging Parents Quality Award, our vision includes an aim to enage further with our parents and the local community.  As such, we welcome feedback and are keen to encourage more parents and members of local groups to get involved in school life.  There are a variety of different ways to make a difference depending on your interests and time commitments so please do get in touch to tell us your ideas.  Together we can help drive school improvement;  making this school a centre of excellence for all its students and an integral part of the local community.

I look forward to hearing from you.
