Bradley Stoke Community School places a special emphasis on the student voice and this has been the case since prospective students were invited to take part in the appointment of the Headteacher. Students were involved in the appointment of all the teaching staff and have been involved, along with their parents, in making decisions about uniform, school logo, structure of the school day, behaviour policy, induction and a range of other things. Whilst still in year 6 our first cohort of students was represented by a student council which met regularly with the school’s leadership team and this set the tone for the future. We have an active student council, representing the students in the school and their pro-active approach has influenced decisions of all kinds. Students can provide insight for teachers, parents and governors about how to improve certain aspects of the day-to-day running of schools and they are able to do this in a planned way in Bradley Stoke, providing feedback about many aspects of school life. This is one strand of the school’s self evaluation procedures by which we will be able to measure our progress. |
