Building a Partnership with the Ministry of Defence
We were delighted to be invited by the Ministry of Defence to take our Year 12 & 13 students to an Apprenticeship event run exclusively by them, for Bradley Stoke Community School and Abbey Wood Community School.
The Defence, Equipment & Support Team (DE&S) at the MOD were able to give our students a really good insight into what their Apprenticeship schemes involve and some of the benefits of taking the apprenticeship route with them.
The presentation was delivered by current Apprentices and gave a real “feel” of what was involved, as well and informing our student of how they can apply.
DE&S offer Advanced, Higher and Degree apprenticeships. These cover a range of different career opportunities including Engineering, Financial, Commercial and Project Management, all of which are based in Bristol.
Although the Engineering Degree Apprenticeship is only open to students studying Maths and Physics A-levels, the Financial, Commercial and Project Management apprenticeships are open to students studying any combination of A-levels.
We will be meeting again with staff from DE&S in early January to further develop our partnership and plan a range of activities including future Apprenticeship events, Work Experience and Business Mentoring.
