Debating

On Tuesday 27th February 40 students from Y7 and Y8 took part in a debate workshop learning a whole host of new skills such as public speaking, judging a debate, research and team work. They debated the motion ‘This house believes that we should all be vegetarian’ amongst other moral and ethical statements and made some great arguments which really got everyone thinking!

This year, we are taking part in the ‘Up for debate’ programme in which we practise our debating skills each Thursday in enrichment and then have the opportunity to take part in local (and hopefully) national competitions! Our first competition is at Bristol grammar school on March 22nd. We will keep you posted with results, wish us luck!
