Bradley Stoke Community School

For Prospective Post 16 applicants

Post 16 Open Events’ Information

We are at the time of Year 11 when students have to start thinking about their options for next year. For lots of students and parents these can be difficult decisions and so as a school we try to support students as much as possible with the decision making process. One of the options that most Year 11s will be considering is joining our Post 16 Centre. To give you more information about this route, we are putting on two very different evenings that I am inviting you to attend and that I hope will provide answers to all the questions you might have.

The first evening is the Concorde Partnership Subject Evening on Thursday 12thNovember at The Edge Church, Aztec West between 7:00pm and 9:00pm. At this evening we will have subject representatives from all the different courses that your son/daughter can choose to study and we hope this evening will give you and them the opportunity to find out more about what the courses involve, methods of assessment and job sectors they can lead to. There is no formal talk planned for this evening.

The second evening is our own Post 16 Open Evening on Monday 30th November at Bradley Stoke Community School. You will have read in the media that there have been a number of significant changes to Post 16 education recently and this is a chance for you to gain further information about these changes and the implications for your son/daughter. The evening will consist of a presentation followed by an opportunity to tour around the Post 16 facilities, meet with current Post 16 students and ask any questions you might have to members of the Post 16 Team and other members of the Leadership Team. The presentation will provide you with an overview of Post 16 provision at Bradley Stoke, outline the application process and give information, advice and guidance on making decisions about Post 16 study. We will also have an impartial Careers Adviser available during the evening. Due to potential numbers we would like to ask you to come for different start times so that there is enough room in the hall for the presentation.  If your surname begins with letters A-L please come to a presentation at 6:15pm and if your surname begins with letters M-Z, please come to a presentation at 7:00pm.

I look forward to seeing you at both of these event and, in the meantime, should you have any questions or queries, please contact the Post 16 Team on 01454 867940.

Yours faithfully,

Tom Hill
