International Women's Day - House of Commons visit

International Women’s Day: House of Commons visit.

Local MP, Jack Lopresti, along with other MPs across the country, invited female students from their constituency to the House of Commons on the 6th March in recognition of International Women’s Day. The visit aimed to inform and encourage women to consider a career in the male dominated world of politics.  It involved a tour of 10 Downing Street, listening to a debate on ‘Women in Afghanistan’ in the House of Commons, a tour of the House of Commons, tea with the Speaker and a range of talks from women that have succeeded in their stereotypically male-centred professions. The day was extremely interesting and thought-provoking, providing an opportunity to learn about potential political career paths.
