Peer Mentors 2017-2018

We would like to say a huge thank you to our amazing Y11 peer mentors who have been attached to their Y7 tutor groups all year, in fact they were there on transition days in 2017 too!

This group of students have made a considerable difference to the Y7 students by helping them  throughout their first year of secondary school with settling into school, maanging their IL, helping with friendship issues and much much more. We know how much their work is valued by students and the Y7 tutors.  Here are some quotes from our Y7 students...

Jodie - They made me feel more safe in school.

Talia - They have really helped me with friendship problems.

Olivia - The peer mentors were always there to talk to me about anything.

Rosie - At the start of the year I was worried but they were there to help me build my confidence.

Nermine - Peer mentors from other tutors can also listen to you when you need them.

Khadija - They always asked if I was OK and they made me feel better if we were upset.

Divleen - They made tutor times fun and more exciting.

Wiktoria - They gave me good advice.

Tomek - I liked it when we went out in groups.  It helped me to get to know people.

This term some some of these grateful Y7 students took part in our peer mentor 2018 launch event with our current Y10 students as we look to find our next cohort of mentors to support transition, work as anti-bullying ambassadors and lead our time to talk mental health student ambassador work. Applications are currently open to all Y10 students who think they have the right attitude and experience to provide this important student leadership across the school. All successful applicants will have full training, provided by members of the student support team.

Thank you again to our current Y11 mentors and good luck with your exams!
