Bradley Stoke Community School

Post-16 Bar Mock Trial Competition

A fantastic group of Y12 students have been busily preparing to take part in the regional heats for the Bar Mock Trial, run by the Citizenship Foundation.  The competition involves them preparing the defence and prosecution cases for two legal trials.

With the support of a barrister, they have finally honed their skills of open and closed questioning, how to present themselves as witnesses and considered the role of the jury. Being involved in the competition, has increased their understanding of our legal system and the careers within it – as well as developing their confidence at public speaking. As part of their preparation, the students visited Bristol Crown Court – where they spoke to a judge and watched trials taking place. The competition is on Saturday 24th November – and should they be successful then they will be competing in Edinburgh in the spring. Good luck!
