Reading with Rosie

We have been doing an enrichment based on the Bark and Read programme introduced by the Kennel Club.

It understands that dogs have a unique way to help improve literacy by offering unconditional positive regard to children when they are reading.

Rosie, a 4 year old patterdale terrier cross has been coming in and listening to a small group of students reading aloud. We chose a book called ‘Time travelling with a hamster’ by Ross Welford.

It has been wonderful to see the students reading confidence grow and the development of a lovely relationship with Rose. I think they have all enjoyed the cuddles.
