Remembrance Day 2019
Remembrance Day – Monday 11th November
BSCS will be marking Remembrance day on Monday 11th November in several ways. We currently have poppies available for a donation, these are in our front Secondary Reception and in our Primary phase building for visitors, parents and students to buy. As we usually do each year, the secondary school will hold a minute’s silence at 11.11am, whilst the Last Post is sounded. We will be showing a short video to all secondary students beforehand to remind them why we remember, and what the purpose of the silence is. During this day we will also be hosting some Royal British Legion visitors, who will be taking part in a History lesson during Period 3 and will be taking questions and answers from the class. They will be here during lunchtime and we would encourage students to talk to them if they would like to.
Students who are members of the army/sea/navy cadets are welcome to wear their uniform to school on this day if they so wish.
Our Primary phase will have their own events to mark the day.
Tying in slightly with the theme, and in homage to the Movember events Mr Young is organising, Mr Young has organised a game of Trenchball warfare which will be taking place on Monday at 2.35 in the sports hall for secondary students who would like to take part (£1 per player, 50p to watch)
