Y9 Football team beat Chipping Sodbury
Our Year 9 football team beat Chipping Sodbury School 2-0 in today’s cup semi-final. This was especially impressive because last year they beat us 7-1 and have four very strong academy players (Swindon Town FC, Bristol City FC and Wales Football Academy!).
After taking the lead in the closing moments of a wind assisted first half, with a brilliant team goal involving the incredibly hard working Robertson twins (Brandon finishing off a move started by Louis), they managed to soak up wave after wave of unrelenting pressure for the whole of the second period. Will Ferguson is probably the best goalkeeper in the county right now, and made several outstanding saves to keep us in the game. It was his clearance that James Worley got on the end of to link up once again with Brandon and Louis Robertson, only for the ball to bounce kindly for Jesse Otoo to expertly tuck away for the decisive match winner.
The resilience and hardworking team ethic that these players showed was an absolute joy to witness and made me very proud of them - Andy Young, Subject Team Leader PE.
